Less than a week before its world premiere at the Beijing Motor Show, the images of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury concept car were leaked.

All the information, including images of the car, has no official status yet – the “leakage” occurred before the debut, but the information about the concept car appeared on several Chinese websites, including AutoHome. Most likely, the official release of Mercedes-Maybach will not be very different from what the media in the Middle Kingdom published.

The car, which Mercedes’s premium arm describes as an “SUV saloon”, is intended to appeal to affluent Chinese buyers who are vital to the success of super-luxury car sales worldwide. It follows similar models from rivals, such as the Bentley Bentayga and upcoming Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

At the front, the Ultimate Luxury SUV seems to be inspired by the stunning Mercedes-Maybach Vision 6 as it sports the same chrome-plated grille, but the least said about its protruding rear-end, the better. If the production model inherits the concept’s design, it’s safe to say it will look unlike anything else on the road. Leaked images also show the plush interior, which features lots of white leather and wood, as well as a large center console housing a heated tray containing a tea set.

The leaked information confirms the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is designed as an electric car, with four synchronous motors that can offer all-wheel drive and a total power output of 738bhp. It will have a limited top speed of 155mph. The engines are powered by an 80 kWh battery, which gives an NEDC range of around 310 miles.

This concept is only a design study, it is not intended for production. In any case, for now. But, it is quite possible that in the future some of the ideas of this car will be embodied in the serial version and, possibly, not only for the Chinese market.
